Full-day hike Gran Canaria

Take a deep breath and enjoy the moment – for this is what the real Gran Canaria looks like. Far away from the crowded beaches, these hiking trails will bring you right into the heart of the island, where nature is at its purest. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views in an atmosphere of serene peace. You will be guided through pine forests and glades redolent with the scents of mint, sage and broom, and where the gentle murmur of spring water is the soundtrack to your thoughts. All of the trails are safe. On Mondays, we hike the area around Roque Nublo. You can choose trails between 6km-13 km. Trek through three of Gran Canaria’s four climate zones and pass through a beautiful village in the Tejeda valley. On Tuesdays, we go high into the core of the island. The hike departs at about 9am and returns at about 4.30pm. Overall, you can expect to walk between 8km-10km, depending on the route. This trek takes you above 1,300 metres, to a pine-forested area, where you will enjoy views of the two highest mountains in Gran Canaria: Pico de las Nieves and Roque Nublo. On Wednesdays, our challenge is the highest peak in the island, the 1,949m high Pico de las Nieves. You can choose trails between 6km-13 km. We follow an ancient trail known as the Silver Way. On Thursdays, there are hikes to some of the magnificent reservoirs of the highlands. The hike departs at about 9am and returns at about 4.30pm. Overall, expect to walk between 6km-8km. We will follow trails near pine forests and/or near a palm tree oasis in the south. On Fridays, there are two options. You can either explore the ‘jungles’ of the north. The hike departs at about 9am and returns at about 5pm. You can expect to walk between 7km-10km. This is an easy hike along a scenic river bed but a tougher route can be undertaken on request. Or you can hike to the Mediterranean climate zone, with trails around the village of Santa Lucia, the Guaydeque gorge and caves that once were inhabited.
