Our next stop is the splendid city of Bath. Founded by the Romans on the site of a thermal spring, it became a fashionable spa town in ancient times and still is today. Developed mainly in the 18th century, it is an elegant city with beautiful Georgian buildings dotting the landscape. After a short panoramic coach ride, your guide will lead you on a walking tour, pointing out the major highlights and most beautiful parts of the city. Then enjoy free time to explore on your own: visit the Roman Baths, or perhaps visit the Jane Austen centre where you can learn more about her life and work. Continue your journey through the English countryside to your final stop of the day – Stonehenge, one of the wonders of the world. This amazing and still somewhat incomprehensible site is believed to have been built anywhere between 3000 and 2000 B.C. The prehistoric stone circle and its surroundings is a designated Unesco World Heritage Site and has recently been restored back to its original unaltered landscape. Your guide will explain the research and theories behind this amazing site to help you understand one of England’s greatest archaeological mysteries.
